Show all images on one page This work reflects my impressions from Lewis Carroll?s classic tale ?Alice in Wonderland?.
On the box lid I have painted the moment from the beginning of the tale. Alice is falling down through the Rabbit’s hole and penetrates into the Wonderland. The scene is painted in delicate violet and pink tones. Silver powder shines through the oils creating a sparkle of the bridge, the sea and the castle painted in the background. The depth of the sky is produced with the help of a mother-of-pearl inlay. Mother-of-pearl inlays that shine brightly with violet, green, pink, orange and blue undertones can be found in the Rabbit’s ears, in some grass, in the leaves of roses and in the area around the ship painted in the foreground. Some areas of the composition like the Rabbits ears are crafted three-dimensionally. The boxs exterior is covered with silver powder, and this silver area is additionally covered with light violet oils. On this silver-violet background I have painted beautiful flowers using oil paints. On the box? front side I have painted the sheet of paper, and written on it the following phrase: «If you want to find yourself in a fairy-tale you should have a strong desire». The box’s interior is covered with red lacquer. On the lid’s interior I have written in gold my name Knyazev Sergey, the title («Alice??s Flight to the Wonderland?), Fedoskino and the year of 2008. This box is made of high quality papier mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. |
